Grant Tyler was a member of the Comparative History of Ideas major at the University of Washington.  Throughout his life, he sought to challenge and recreate ideas about education.  The Liberatory Education Focus Group was created in his memory to continue to explore the ideas he had pursued in his studies.

A Note from Grant's Mom Sandee Tyler: - "There is no way for me to tell you all about Grant, but all who knew him and those lives he touched know he is very special. That's why this class is so important to me, we can't let his work, his ideas be forgotten. I truly believe he would have impacted the face of education had he not been taken from us. We owe it to him to do our best to carry on for him, after all he never gave anything less than his best to all of us."
